RSVCI - Richmondshire Green Awards 2008
This award scheme is being run by the Green Living group of the Richmondshire Local Strategic Partnership. It will recognise and publicise the hard work of local organisations and businesses which demonstrate an active commitment to good environmental practice and promote sustainable development.
By being concerned about their environmental effects, organisations can help to ensure a better quality of life for everyone, both today and in the future. They can also achieve increased efficiency, reduced costs and improved competitiveness.
The overall winners of each category will receive cash prizes. These will be awarded to outstanding initiatives to support ongoing or new projects relating to good environmental practice and sustainable development. There are additional prizes for runners up. Judging will take place in September followed by an award presentation later this year. The panel will be judging applications based on the entry criteria listed here
Entry and Judging Criteria:
The categories are:
- BUSINESS
- YOUTH & EDUCATION
- SUSTAINABLE TOURISM
- COMMUNITY (groups or individuals)
All organisations in Richmondshire are eligible. Entrants should describe practical schemes that have been implemented within the last 12 months.
These might include initiatives concerning, e.g.
- Recycling
- Climate change
- Resource use
- Waste minimisation
- Energy management
- Sustainable construction
- Green transport
- Sustainable tourism
- Nature conservation
- Health improvement
Entries should:

Show good environmental or sustainability practice

Give a good example for others to follow

Provide an opportunity for employee, community or pupil involvement

Be well presented, clear and comprehensive
